THE TRUE LIGHT

John 1: 6-10 Intro: There's not but one true light - Jesus! Here is a list of fake lights.

1. Neon Lights - Attractive, colorful, & pretty, but not the true light. Like a church that has puppets, games, and clowns, but the gospel is not preached.

2. Florescent Lights: Like a church who tries to outshine the rest by drawing attention to their attendance and bank accounts. However, no one is ever saved.

3. The Bulb: Not that bright, and not that dim. The preacher is on fire for God, but the congregation is like wet wood.

4. The Candle: Represents the church member that can be easily blown out and blown away.

5. Clap On / Clap Off Lights: In the bad times, they clap on and are in church. In the good times they clap off and are out of church.

6. Porch Lights: Represents people who go to church but before church they "light up" a cigarette on the porch. After church they stay on the porch to gossip and complain.

7. Headlights: Represents a church member that burns bright sometimes and willing to anything for God. Other times they run on dim and cannot do much for God.

8. Tail Lights: Only time this church member's light comes on is when he wants to try to stop God's work going forward.

9. Reverse Lights: Comes on when they want to back out of something.

10. Hazard Light: The only time this church member lights up is when there is a problem!

11. Christmas Lights: These folks only go to church at Christmas!

12. Flood Lights: These folks only "flood" into the church on special days (Easter, Homecoming, Mother's Day, Father's Day).

13. Spot Light: These folks only come to church if they are going to be in the spot light (includes a lot of singers and preachers).

Jesus is the only TRUE LIGHT!

Things We Need

Phillippians 4: 19-20

Intro: Things I Need Comes Through:

1. Singing - Songs of Zion
2. Sermon - Holy Ghost Message
3. Saints - Testimony and Life of the Saved
4. Sanctuary - The church where God meets with his own people.

Body:

I. We Need A Messenger!

     A. Messengers that Preach!
     B. Messengers that are Proven!
     C. Messengers that are Pure!

II. We Need A Message!

     A. A Message of Repentance!
     B. A Message of Rebirth!
     C. A Message of Revelation
         1. Reveals Christ's Return
         2. Reveals Church's Rebellion

III. We Need Mourning!

     A. Mourn for our Nation!
     B. Mourn for the House of God!
        (Modern Religion)
     C. Mourn for the Unsaved!

IV. We Need A Messiah!

Close: Without the Messiah, we do not have a messenger, a message, or any mourning. You cannot mourn over sin or the lost unless you have a Messiah sending a message through a messenger to let you know the condition you and the world are living in.
