Have Faith in God's Power
Mark 11:22-26
22 And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God.
23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.
24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
25 And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.
26 But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.
INTRO:
**Our theme this year is Learning to Lean in 2015.
**The first quarter’s theme is Lean on God’s Power.
Matthew 28:18 18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
**This first month, the theme is Lean on God’s Power by Giving Him Your Faith.
Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
**V-22 of our text says, “Have faith in God.”
**You cannot have the Power of God or the Power with God until you lean on His power and have faith in His power.
Here are some examples of people who put their faith into God’s power.
Notice:
1. THE SICK ONE
Luke 8:43-48 – Tells the story a sick woman with an issue of blood who had faith in His power. She Reached Jesus and Received Jesus. V-48 tells why it happened.
48 And he said unto her, Daughter, be of good comfort: thy faith hath made thee whole;
2. THE SEEKING ONE
Luke 19:1-10 – Zacchaeus sought “to see Jesus who he was”. Zacchaeus reached and received Jesus as well, and by faith he made Jesus his Guest and his God.
3. THE SHOUTING ONE
Luke 18:35-43 – “Blind Bartimaeus” shouted until Jesus heard him! He reached out to Jesus and put his faith in His power. When he did he received his Sight and Salvation.
42 And Jesus said unto him, Receive thy sight: thy faith hath saved thee.
4. THE SINCERE ONE
Mark 7:24-30 – The Greek Syrophenician woman reached Jesus sincerely concerning her devil possessed daughter, and she put her faith in His power. When she got home she found No Devil and a New Daughter!
30 And when she was come to her house, she found the devil gone out, and her daughter laid upon the bed.
**Everybody who has ever experienced God’s power had to first Have Faith In God’s Power and reach for the power of God through faith!
**Let’s look at our text so we can learn how to Have Faith In God’s Power!
BODY – Have Faith In God’s Power
I. THE OBJECT OF BIBLICAL FAITH
22 And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God.
**Not in Self, Systems, Sanctuaries, Sums (money or members), or even Saints! Put your faith in God!
**Have a Consistent and Confident faith in God’s Power!
A. Trust God’s Person To Find God’s Power
1. The Person of God is the Savior who has Power!
**He has caring, compassionate, convicting, and converting power!
2. The Person of God is the Spirit who has Power!
**He has the power to Comfort, to Communicate, and to Cheer!
B. Trust God’s Promises To Find God’s Power
God’s Promises are Powerful because . . .
1. They’ve Stood Tried in Times Past
2. They’re Standing True in Times Presents
3. They’ll Stand Trustworthy in Times Promised
C. Trust God’s Purpose To Find God’s Power
1. When you are in DOUBT – Trust His Purpose!
I Timothy 2:8 8 I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.
2. When you are in DARKNESS – Trust His Purpose!
I Kings 8:12 12 Then spake Solomon, The LORD said that he would dwell in the thick darkness.
3. When you are in DEPRESSION – Trust His Purpose!
John 14:18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.
**Like Job, you can trust His purpose even though life looks doubtful, dark, and depressing.
**Keep trusting Him, and you will find His power in His Person, His Promises, and His Purpose!
II. THE OPPORTUNITIES OF BIBLICAL FAITH
**You have the opportunity to trust God’s Will, God’s Words, and God’s Ways by having faith in His Power.
**If it is God’s Will, God’s Word, and God’s Way . . .
A. You can Speak the Impossible!
23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.
1. Some Mountains God Helps You To Climb!
a. Have Faith in His Powerful Strength
b. Have Faith in His Powerful Support
2. Some Mountains God Helps You To Conquer!
On top of the conquered mountain, you can
a. Get God’s Grace b. Give God Glory
3. Some Mountains God Helps You To Clear!
a. You Cannot Do It Without God’s Move.
(His Work)
b. You Cannot Do It Without God’s Mind.
(His Will)
**Most people ask for help to climb mountains; some ask to conquer mountains, but very few ask to clear mountains.
B. You can See the Impossible!
24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
1. See It Based On Faith
(Desire it and Declare it by Faith!)
2. See It Based On Fact
(It can be Received, and it can be Real!)
III. THE OBSTACLES OF BIBLICAL FAITH
**Some cannot lean on God’s Power because they allow some obstacles to hinder their faith.
A. Unbelief Is Such An Obstacle
V-23 “and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass”
**Doubt means “to be divided, hesitant, and drawn back.”
**It’s being 1. Uncertain 2. Undecided 3. Unsure
Illustration: When Peter saw by faith he actually could walk on water, he made a commitment with both of his feet to step over the rim. Unbelief keeps both feet inside the boat. Doubt takes one step out of the boat and keeps one foot in. But faith steps completely out of the boat.
** Faith doesn't necessarily know where it's going, but it does know Who's leading.
B. Unforgiveness Is Such An Obstacle
25 And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.
26 But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.
**What keeps our prayers unanswered and our mountains unmoved and makes God’s power unattainable?
1. Having An Unforgiven Soul
Psalms 66:18 18 If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me:
**You must be forgiven to see God move your mountain.
2. Having An Unforgiving Spirit
**Unforgiving people are Callous, Cruel, and Cranky.
**You must be forgiving to see God move your mountain.
